Who we are

Welcome to St. Edmund’s Preschool! We are a term time not-for-profit run preschool based in Allestree. We operate for the benefit of the local community that we serve and have had a presence in the village for many years. We are a team of experienced educators who provide high-quality early education to each and every child that comes through the door. Our holistic approach to learning and development means that when your child leaves us for reception they will have had the best possible start to their early education.

Children learn through their play and at St. Edmund’s, along with carefully planned adult led activities your child’s experiences will be both fun and unique. Every child is given the time to develop at their own pace. They are supported on their journey by our dedicated educators whilst covering the seven areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Joining Preschool

We take children from their second birthday onward until they leave for school. We normally take new children at the start of each half term.

We are open 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday during school term time. Our morning session runs from 9.00-12.00pm and the afternoon session which includes lunchtime runs from 12.00pm – 3.00pm.

We require all children to attend for at least two sessions per week as children settle more quickly once preschool is part of their routine and to ensure we can monitor their development. Where we have availability we can offer a mix of mornings, afternoon or full day sessions to suit. We recommend morning sessions if you are looking for a couple of sessions per week.

Curriculum

We offer a wide and varied range of activities, both spontaneous and planned, based on the seven areas of learning.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development

They are encouraged to both work alone and to develop relationships with others by taking part in group activities and taking turns.
Communication & Language

During adult led activities we talk about what they are doing and work more closely with individual children to extend their learning.
Physical Development

Children are taught the importance of good health & keeping safe and are encouraged to manage their own personal needs and independence with dressing.

Hello and welcome to St. Edmund’s Preschool. My name is Hannah and I am proud to be the manager of this well established and respected early education setting. Children are at the very heart of everything we do here. I, alongside our dedicated skilled practitioners, ensure that everyone who comes through our doors benefits from a varied and interesting early education.

Our holistic approach and ambitious curriculum guarantees that when your child leaves us for “big school” they are well equipped with the skills necessary to flourish to the best of their ability.
