HEALTHY EATING

We see food education and healthy eating as an integral part of all that we do at preschool. We recognise the positive impact a balanced diet can have on a child’s ability to learn and develop and the important role we as educators have on our children.

We aim to support children to develop and maintain life-long responsible eating habits. We support this in a variety ways including adult led activities and discussions, guidance to parents on healthy lunch boxes and through to the snack we provide on a daily basis. We always offer fruit and/or a plain carbohydrate with water or milk for morning snack and strongly encourage all children to bring water to preschool.

Snack time is also an important part of the morning routine with opportunities for children to learn. We encourage use of manners, turn taking and children independently pouring their own drink. We look to expose children to a variety of fruit options throughout the year.
